OVERVIEW
Hindustan Petroleum's refinery in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh -- commissioned in 1957 by Caltex Oil Refining (India) at 0.675 Mtpa and expanded repeatedly since (4.5 Mtpa in 1985, 8.3 Mtpa in 2010). The Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project lifted capacity to 15 Mtpa (about 301,000 b/d); HPCL plans a further expansion to 401,000 b/d within five years.
