OVERVIEW
PetroChina's large refining-petrochemical complex in Pengzhou, Sichuan (about 25 km northwest of Chengdu) -- built jointly with the Sichuan provincial government at a cost of roughly $6.1 billion (CNY38 billion) and brought onstream in March 2014, after delays tied to environmental concerns, the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and crude supply uncertainty. Rated at 10 million t/y (about 200,000 b/d) of crude processing plus 800,000 t/y of ethylene, it serves as PetroChina's main refining base in southwestern China.
