OVERVIEW
China's newest greenfield refinery, built on a man-made island in Longkou, Yantai, Shandong, as the flagship of the province's push to consolidate its fragmented "teapot" independent refining sector into fewer, larger complexes. Construction ran roughly four years before the first of two 200,000 b/d crude units started up in September 2024, bringing total crude capacity to 400,000 b/d alongside a 3 million t/y ethylene and 3 million t/y paraxylene complex; bp and Chevron signed feedstock supply agreements with the project.
